Fire Ravages Cipta Mulya Traditional Village in Sukabumi: 51 Buildings Destroyed, West Java BPBD Sends Aid

A massive fire swept through the Cipta Mulya Traditional Village in Sirnaresmi Village, Cisolok District, Sukabumi Regency, on Saturday (25/7). The incident resulted in dozens of buildings being gutted and scores of residents losing their homes. Based on preliminary data, 51 buildings were consumed by the flames. These structures comprised residential houses and traditional rice barns (leuit) belonging to the local indigenous community. As a result of the disaster, at least 28 families, or approximately 89 people, were forced to flee. Initial suspicions suggest the fire originated from a public sanitation building, triggered by an electrical short circuit. The flames then spread rapidly to surrounding buildings, the majority of which were constructed from highly flammable materials. In response to the disaster, the West Java Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) immediately deployed teams to the location. The West Java BPBD team reportedly arrived at the scene on Sunday (26/7) morning, bringing various logistical aid and emergency handling equipment. Upon arrival, the team immediately undertook strategic measures. Field operations are being conducted in an integrated manner involving the Sukabumi Regency BPBD, the Fire Department, local authorities, and other relevant parties. This synergy aims to accelerate the evacuation process and meet the basic needs of the victims. The handling and in-depth data collection process is still ongoing. The West Java Provincial BPBD continues to coordinate intensively with the Sukabumi Regency BPBD to ensure that urgent needs, such as refugee tents, clothing, and food supplies, can be met promptly for all residents affected by this disaster.
