Fire kills two in Bandung
BANDUNG: A small gas station and three kiosks caught fire in the
West Java capital of Bandung early on Friday morning, killing two
people -- a 28-year-old man and his five-year-old daughter.
Slamet, the owner of the gas station, was found dead embracing
his daughter, Aulia Hafifa, in a bathroom of their gutted home on
Jl. Sudirman, Cimahi.
Slamet's wife, Sulastri, 30, fainted upon hearing of their
deaths.
The razed kiosks were allegedly illegal property located
between Dustira hospital and the Cimahi district military command
office.
Yayan, 25, who owns one of the kiosks, said he awoke up after
hearing cries for help from Sulastri's home. "The fire spread
suddenly and quickly because it was probably burning gasoline,"
she added.
Police said they were investigating the cause of the fire. --
