Fire Kills 22 Employees, Terra Drone CEO Promises Scholarships for Victims' Children
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The President Director of PT Terra Drone Indonesia, Michael Wishnu, has outlined plans to provide scholarships for the children of victims of the company office fire on 9 December 2025.
The scholarships are intended for the children of employees who died in the incident that claimed 22 lives. The scholarships are planned for children whose parents were killed in the fire.
“At the moment, I have just thought of rallying a scholarship team for the families left behind if they have children,” Michael said during the trial of the Terra Drone fire case at the Central Jakarta District Court in Kemayoran on Wednesday (15/4/2026).
Michael also stated that if any family members require compensation in the future that can be fulfilled by the company, they should communicate it promptly. He promised to improve communication with the victims’ families.
In particular, for those currently processing compensation for their families. He apologised if communication between the victims’ families and the company management had been difficult.
“So far, we have contacted them for his wife, we will improve it and also want to bridge it. I kindly ask that you forgive us,” he said.
On this occasion, Michael Wishnu also directly apologised to the parents of the victims who died in the Terra Drone office fire.
This direct apology is the first one made by Michael Wishnu to the victims’ families.
“I want to convey my condolences and the deepest apologies for this incident,” Michael said in his opening apology.
He stated that the office fire on 9 December 2025 has brought sadness and a heavy burden to the extended family of PT Terra Drone Indonesia. This is because Terra Drone had to lose 22 employees who died in the fire.
Michael expressed that he and the management team hope that the families of the deceased victims will forgive them.
It was previously reported that the Terra Drone Building fire case in Kemayoran has now entered the trial stage.
Spokesperson for the Central Jakarta District Court, Andi Saputra, said that the first hearing of the Terra Drone Building fire case was held on 11 March 2026. The second hearing was held on 1 April 2026 with the agenda of examining witnesses.
