Fire in Pasar Baru

JAKARTA (JP): At least three shop-houses were burned on Tuesday evening on Jl. KH Samanhudi, Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta.

"The fire started at around 7 p.m. and burned three-shop houses. There are no casualties as they were empty," Central Jakarta Police's Maj. Ricky F. Wakanno told The Jakarta Post.

He said the three burned shop-houses were Nos. 24, 25, and 26, located exactly behind Hotel Buana. The fire started on the second-floor of No. 25 for unknown reasons.

"We don't know the cause, but probably there was a short circuit," he said, citing that the city's fire agency deployed eight fire trucks to the scene.

"The fire is still burning now. Luckily, it's raining," he told the Post when contacted at 9 p.m. (05)
