Fire in Mount Rinjani Reaches 1,098 Hectares

Forest and land fires (karhutla) in the Mount Rinjani National Park (TNGR) area are expanding. Hikers currently on the trails are being directed to descend via the Sembalun route.

According to reports on Sunday (27/09/2026), the wildfires, which have been occurring for the past six days, have impacted an area of 1,0<0xA0>098.75 hectares. While several fire spots have been successfully extinguished, fires are still being monitored on the northern slopes of Sangkareang Peak.

The Head of the TNGR Administrative Sub-division, Astekita Ardiaristo, stated that trail closures have been implemented to ensure the safety of visitors.
