Fire hits Kebonkacang area
Nineteen houses along Jl. Jatibunder, a slum area in Kebonkacang, Central Jakarta, was gutted by fire yesterday morning. No casualty was reported in the blaze.
Kebonkacang subdistrict head Marsono said the fire was caused by explosion of kerosene stove at the house of Supena, a food vendor.
The mayoralty fire brigade sent 14 fire trucks to put out the fire, which started at around 1.30 a.m. "We had difficulty extinguishing the fire because the road to the site is very small," a fireman said. (has)
