Fire guts RI envoy's home in Stockholm

STOCKHOLM (Agencies): The Indonesian ambassador's residence in
Stockholm was ravaged by a devastating fire yesterday morning as
one person was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation,
rescue officials said.

The identity of the injured person was not disclosed.

The ambassador, Haringon Hardjotanojo, and his family were
safe outside the residence, while four employees were inside the
building when the fire broke out.

Some 50 firemen fought the blaze which started in the attic of
the two-story building located in the posh Stockholm suburb of
Lidingoe.

The fire in the residence, a two-story stone structure, was
reported about 10:00 a.m. (0800 GMT). Firefighters battled the
blaze for three hours before declaring it under control.

One person who was inside the residence when the fire broke
out was taken to a hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.
The name of the injured was not immediately available.

Ambassador Haringon Hardjotanojo was in the city of Malmoe,
500 kilometers southwest of Stockholm yesterday, Swedish news
agency TT reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, but police
said there had not been any threats against the residence or the
embassy, which is in another part of the city.
