Fire guts musical instrument shop

JAKARTA (JP): A fire gutted a musical instrument shop on Jl. Tanjung Barat Raya in Jagakarsa subdistrict, South Jakarta, on Tuesday morning, causing estimated material losses of Rp 400 million (US$36,360).

The fire, believed to have been caused by a short circuit, was spotted at about 5:30 a.m., Anton Fauzi R., the shop's owner, said.

"We're sad over this incident because actually we're still in the process of insuring both the building and its contents," Anton was quoted by Antara as saying.

No fatalities were reported Anton said that all his family members managed to escape without injury.

Achmad Satiri of the South Jakarta fire department said that his office was informed about the fire at 5:50 a.m.

"The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes with the help of seven fire crews," he said. (hhr)
