Fire Extinguished, 33 Residents Evacuated from Pavilion Apartment

The fire at the Pavilion Apartment in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, has been declared extinguished. A total of 33 apartment residents were evacuated during the incident.

“Alhamdulillah, we were able to save the lives of 33 people. This consists of 31 Indonesian citizens and 2 foreign nationals,” said the Head of the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), Bayu Meghantara, at the scene on Friday (4/9/2026).

The Pavilion Apartment is located on Jalan Mas Mansyur, Karet Tengsin, Tanah Abang. The fire brigade received reports that the fire had broken out on the 5th floor of Tower 3 of the apartment complex.

According to data received by the fire brigade, there were no residents left in Tower 3 at the time of the fire. However, firefighters continued to sweep every floor as a precaution to ensure no one else remained in the tower.

“According to the data reported to our post, there was no one left, but to be certain, we continued our sweep,” he added.

No fatalities were reported in this incident. Initial fire suppression was carried out by the Bendungan Hilir fire brigade team.

A total of 28 pump engines and 140 firefighters were deployed to handle the fire at the Pavilion Apartment, which was reported at 11:23 WIB. The extinguishing process began at 11:30 WIB.

Officers managed to control the flames to prevent them from spreading to wider areas or other objects by 13:36 WIB. Personnel continued to spray water on hotspots at the fire site.

The extinguishing operation was declared complete at 16:55 WIB. The fire management process was quite lengthy due to the cooling process and the evacuation of apartment residents.

The fire brigade also deployed a Bronto Skylift truck for the operation. The long ladder from the truck was utilised for both the firefighting process and the evacuation of residents.
