Fire Engulfs PVC Warehouse in Pluit, North Jakarta
A fire engulfed a PVC warehouse on Jalan Pluit Karang Karya Barat, Pejagalan, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta, on Saturday afternoon. Fourteen fire engines and 70 personnel were deployed to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
According to a written statement from the Command Center of the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), the incident was reported at 2.35 p.m. Western Indonesia Time by a resident who contacted the North Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-department. “The object on fire is a low-rise building used as a warehouse,” the Jakarta Fire Department Command Center stated.
Officers from the Pejagalan Post who received the report immediately proceeded to the scene. The first unit arrived at 2.46 p.m. and promptly began firefighting operations. The spread of the fire was successfully localised within a short time at 2.58 p.m. to prevent it from extending to surrounding buildings. Personnel then entered the cooling phase at 3.17 p.m.
“The current situation and status of the fire is in the cooling process, or yellow category. The spread of the fire has been localised and extinguishing is now in the cooling phase,” the Jakarta Fire Department Command Center confirmed. As of the time of reporting, field officers were continuing cooling operations to ensure no hidden embers remained. The initial suspected cause of the fire and the exact chronology of the incident are still under further investigation by the authorities. The Jakarta Fire Department Command Center also confirmed there were no fatalities or injuries in the warehouse fire.
