Fire Engulfs Kemayoran Residential Area in Central Jakarta, Risk of Spreading

A fire has engulfed a residential area on Jalan Kemayoran Gempol in Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. Thirty-three fire engines and 100 personnel have been deployed to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

“The object: residential houses,” the fire department’s command centre stated in its report on Monday (1 June).

The fire department received the alert at around 8:55 PM WIB, with firefighters beginning to tackle the flames at approximately 9:05 PM. As of now, efforts to put out the fire are ongoing.

“Extinguishing process,” they added.

The cause of the fire and the number of homes destroyed remain unknown, as do the number of fatalities and injuries.

“The fire is likely to spread,” they added.
