Fire engulfs Central Jakarta residential property as 33 fire engines deployed

A fire broke out at a residential property on Jalan Kemayoran Gempol, RT 02/RW 05, Kebon Kosong Village, Kemayoran Subdistrict, Central Jakarta, on Monday evening.

Bayu Meghantara, head of DKI Jakarta’s Gulkarmat Department, stated on Monday that 33 fire engines and 100 personnel have been deployed to the scene.

“Fire department personnel received the report at 8:55 pm WIB,” he said.

In response, an initial deployment was made from Kemayoran Sector III Office using medium-pressure fire engines.

Firefighters arrived at the location near Masjid Jami’ Al Ikhlas at 9:05 pm WIB and immediately began firefighting operations.

“The situation is currently still under firefighting (red status). Field personnel are working to contain the fire as it is highly likely to spread,” Bayu said.

As of publication, the cause of the fire and the total material losses from the low-rise building incident remain unknown.

Bayu added that personnel are focusing on extinguishing the fire at the residential area to prevent it from spreading to surrounding buildings.
