Fire Engine Crushed by Concrete Beam at Jakarta Environmental Office, Officer Hospitalised
A fire engine unit was crushed by a concrete building beam at the Jakarta Provincial Environmental Office (DLH) in Cililitan, East Jakarta. The Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) has confirmed that there were no fatalities in the incident.
“We ensure that the current situation is safe and under control, and there were no casualties in this event,” stated the Head of Jakarta Gulkarmat, Bayu Meghantara, in a statement on Saturday (6/6/2026).
Bayu explained that the incident occurred this afternoon at approximately 13:11 WIB. The fire engine was on-site to participate in a community cleaning and maintenance programme at the Environmental Office premises.
“The unit was struck by concrete beam material during the execution of community cleaning activities at the Environmental Office area on Saturday, 6 June 2026,” Bayu explained.
He further detailed that, according to reports received by the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-Command Centre (SCC), the fire engine had departed from the PGC Kramat Jati Post at 08:53 WIB to attend the inter-departmental cleaning activity.
“At 13:11 WIB, the SCC received an emergency report from the Kramat Jati Sector Head regarding a concrete beam falling and directly striking the front cabin of the PGC Post fire engine unit,” Bayu said.
At the time, the squad leader of the PGC Post, identified by the initials IS, was in the front cabin attempting to reposition the vehicle. However, Bayu confirmed that IS has since been admitted to the Polri Hospital.
“The officer was quickly evacuated from the scene and rushed to the Polri Kramat Jati Hospital for intensive medical treatment,” he added.
“Mr IS is currently fully conscious and stable. As part of standard medical procedures and precautionary measures, the medical team at Polri Hospital is conducting further observations, including a CT scan of the head area.”
Regarding the damaged fire engine, the East Jakarta Gulkarmat SCC has coordinated with the Duty Officer for further handling. An evacuation team was immediately deployed to the scene to sterilise the area and move the affected fire engine to the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-Department Office for further inspection.
“Based on the initial assessment, the incident site has been declared safe, and there is no potential for further danger,” stated Bayu.
Bayu expressed his gratitude to all parties involved in the handling process and assured that the incident would undergo a formal evaluation.
“This incident will serve as material for evaluation to strengthen the implementation of safety aspects during the execution of duties, including fire suppression, rescue operations, and collaborative activities across regional agencies. The Gulkarmat Department is committed to ensuring all personnel can perform their duties safely, professionally, and securely,” he concluded.
