Fire Destroys Two Houses in Warakas, North Jakarta, After Roof Noise Reported
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A fire that broke out on Warakas IV Gang, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Wednesday (27/5/2026) evening destroyed two houses.
Gatot Sulaeman, Head of Operations for North Jakarta’s Fire and Rescue Department (Gulkarmat), said the incident was first noticed when residents heard noises from the roof.
‘Initially, there was a sound from the roof. The owner’s child checked and the fire was already large,’ Gatot said via WhatsApp on Thursday (28/5/2025).
Gatot added that the fire report was received by officers at 10:58 pm WIB.
Fourteen fire engines and 70 personnel were deployed to extinguish the flames.
‘The suspected cause is an electrical fault. The situation has been brought under control by the officers,’ Gatot stated.
As a result, one house and part of another on the second floor were damaged by fire.
Two households, totalling nine people, were rescued with no casualties reported.
‘Losses are approximately Rp370 million,’ Gatot added.
