Fire destroys supermarket

JAKARTA (JP): A fire destroyed a two-story supermarket in
Sumur Batu, Central Jakarta, yesterday.

According to preliminary police reports, the fire was caused
by an electrical short circuit at 7:00 a.m.

Eyewitnesses said the fire was called in by employees of the
supermarket, who were opening their shops when the fire began to
blaze.

Although no fatalities were reported in the fire, which took
three hours and eleven fire engines to put it out, more than Rp
1.5 billion in financial losses were caused, said Iwan Bachtiar,
operational manager of the supermarket. (29)
