Fire destroys furniture factory
JAKARTA: A furniture factory in Pondok Gede, Bekasi, was razed by fire on Thursday night, destroying most of the building.
No fatalities or injuries were reported in the blaze.
According to an eyewitness, Maut, the factory's security guard, the fire started at 11 p.m., on the right side of the building and rapidly engulfed the entire factory.
Ten fire trucks, including those from the East Jakarta and Bekasi fire departments, were deployed to put out the fire.
The factory, belonging to PT Timur Raya was established in 1993, but had halted operations on Dec. 12, according to Maut.
Adj. Comr. MP Simanjuntak said police had yet to determine the exact cause of the blaze and an investigation was underway. --Antara
