Fire damages warehouse
JAKARTA (JP): Fire partially gutted a warehouse at the Putra Kalimantan building complex on Jl. Gatot Subroto in South Jakarta on Monday afternoon.
No fatalities were reported and material losses have yet to be calculated.
The blaze, which gutted the second floor of the two-story plywood building, was extinguished 15 minutes after it was first spotted by a security guard from nearby Mulia Tower.
Thick, black smoke from the fire descended on busy Jl. Gatot Subroto and caused heavy traffic congestion as motorists slowed down to observe the fire.
South Jakarta police and firefighters arrived later to secure the area and extinguish smoldering materials.
No employees contacted in the Putra Kalimantan building were willing to comment on the fire. (emf)
