Fire damages buildings

JAKARTA (JP): At least three buildings were damaged by a fire
on Wednesday that started after a stove exploded in a restaurant
on Jl. Taman Sari, Pecenongan, Central Jakarta.

There were no injuries or fatalities during the incident.

Although firefighters succeeded in bringing the fire under
control within a short time, it had caused panic among some
residents, who took their belongings, including clothes and
furniture, out of the house.

The fire, which started at 10.30 a.m., caused traffic jams in
the Pecenongan area for more than one hour.

A Simpati restaurant employee, Syamsuri, admitted that it was
the restaurant's stove which caused the fire although he insisted
that the stove was in good condition.

The fire also damaged two shops next to the restaurant which,
respectively, sold motorcycles and flowers.(04)
