Fire Breaks Out in Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta as Thick Black Smoke Rises

JAKARTA – Several houses were reported to have caught fire in the Kebon Kosong area of Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Monday (1 June 2026) evening. According to a live broadcast from TikTok account @sen.mc10, flames were seen engulfing several residential buildings at the scene. Thick black smoke billowed high into the air. ‘People have broken through walls to evacuate unaffected residents. This is Benyamin Sueb Street, in Kebon Kosong,’ the recorder said during the live broadcast. As of 21:44 WIB, the fire was still burning and firefighting efforts were ongoing. Firefighters were also working to extinguish the flames to prevent them from spreading to nearby structures.
