Fire breaks out at Sombo Rusunawa in Surabaya, 17 fire engines deployed
The Sombo Rusunawa, located in Simokerto, Surabaya, East Java, experienced a major fire on Wednesday (25/2) afternoon.
As of this report, at least 17 fire engines have been deployed to tackle the fire.
Initial information gathered from the Surabaya City Government’s Command Center 112 indicates that the fire occurred around 4:00 PM local time.
“Command Center 112 received a report of a fire at the Sombo Rusunawa on Jalan Simolawang,” the Command Center 112 report stated.
The fire is seen raging from inside the apartment building, with thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
The Head of Firefighting Division of the Surabaya City Fire and Rescue Service (DPKP), M Rokhim, stated that they have deployed personnel and 17 fire engines.
“17 units,” Rokhim said briefly when confirmed.
Personnel are currently at the location. Residents are advised to use alternative routes to avoid potential traffic congestion, as the roads are being used by fire engines. (frd)
