Fire Breaks Out at Sandal Factory in Tangerang, One Employee Suffers Breathing Difficulties
A sandal factory in Kampung Bayur, Periuk Jaya, Periuk District, Tangerang City, Banten, has caught fire. One factory employee suffered breathing difficulties as a result of the incident.
Based on footage received, flames could be seen burning the interior of the factory. Before firefighters arrived, a number of people attempted to extinguish the fire on their own.
Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Tangerang City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Andia S. Rahman, said the agency received a report of the fire at 5.10pm local time. Officers are still working to extinguish the flames.
Meanwhile, thick black smoke billowed high into the air and was clearly visible to residents around the scene.
“Around 45 personnel were deployed,” said Andia on Monday (20/7/2026).
Andia confirmed that a factory employee had suffered breathing difficulties. The victim has since received treatment from Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) officers at the scene.
“Yes, one of the employees panicked,” said Andia.
According to Andia, there have so far been no reports as to whether there have been any fatalities in the incident.
