Fire at Warkopolim Causes Estimated Losses of Rp10 Million

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat Jaksel) has recorded estimated losses of Rp10 million from a fire at the Warkopolim shop house on Jalan Melawai X 14-2, RT 02/RW 06, Melawai, Kebayoran Baru.

“The estimated losses at Warkopolim reached Rp10 million,” said Head of South Jakarta Gulkarmat Asril Rizal in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He said South Jakarta Gulkarmat received the report at around 1:00 a.m. local time, then deployed six units or 25 personnel to the scene.

Firefighters began extinguishing the blaze at 1:10 a.m. and completed the operation by 1:55 a.m.

The chronology began with sparks from a small electric air fryer that ignited residual oil on the wall. The fire then grew and spread to the hexos exhaust system within a 3x2 square metre area. An employee attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher and contacted the Kebayoran Baru fire department.

“The suspected cause of the fire was sparks from the fryer,” he said.
