Fire at TNI Rindam Hasanuddin Barracks Destroys Six Houses

A fire swept through the TNI Rindam XIV Hasanuddin military barracks in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday (7/7), destroying six personnel homes. “Yes, six housing units were burned down,” said Syamsul Bahri Syamsudin, Head of Fire Prevention and Suppression at the Gowa Fire Department, to reporters on Tuesday (7/7). The fire occurred at around 13:55 WITA. Gowa firefighters who received the report immediately deployed three fire engines. “We received the fire information at 13:55 WITA and arrived at the location at approximately 14:05 WITA, with three units and personnel strength of three teams,” he explained. Upon arrival, officers immediately worked to extinguish the flames. The fire was successfully put out and cooling operations were carried out to prevent any remaining hotspots. “The fire could only be tamed in about 30 minutes, with the cooling process lasting approximately one hour,” he clarified. The cause of the fire remains unknown, though it is suspected to have originated from an electrical short circuit in one of the houses, which then spread to the others. “Preliminary identification suggests it was caused by an electrical short circuit, which then spread to the other houses, and the latest report is that six housing units were burned,” he said.
