Fire at TNI Rindam Hasanuddin Barracks Destroys Six Houses

A fire struck the barracks of TNI Rindam XIV Hasanuddin members in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday (7/7). Six personnel houses were burnt to the ground.

“Yes, six house units were burnt,” said the Head of Prevention and Firefighting of the Gowa Fire Department, Syamsul Bahri Syamsudin, to reporters on Tuesday (7/7).

The fire occurred at approximately 13:55 WITA. Upon receiving the report, Gowa Fire Department officers immediately deployed three fire engines.

“We received information about the fire at 13:55 WITA and arrived at the location at approximately 14:05 WITA, with three units and a strength of three teams,” he stated.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers immediately worked to extinguish the flames. The fire was eventually brought under control, followed by a cooling process to prevent any remaining hotspots from reigniting.

“The fire was only subdued after about 30 minutes, followed by a cooling process lasting approximately one hour,” he explained.

While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, it is suspected that the fire originated from an electrical short circuit in one house, which then spread to the others.

“Preliminary identification suggests it was caused by an electrical short circuit, which then spread to the other houses, and the latest report indicates that six house units were burnt,” he said.
