A fire at a sandal factory owned by PT Murni Karetindo Lestari (King Stone) on Jalan KH Agus Salim, Poris Plawad, Cipondoh District, Tangerang City, has been raging for more than nine hours since it was first reported on Sunday night. The head of the Tangerang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) emergency and logistics division, Andia S. Rahman, said firefighters arrived at the scene at around 10:45 p.m. WIB and immediately began efforts to prevent the flames from spreading. All 95 personnel and the entire firefighting fleet of the Tangerang City BPBD have been deployed to the location. The operation is also supported by two personnel from the Koramil military command and six from the Health Service, along with 30 volunteers. Andia noted that the presence of rubber and chemical materials inside the factory poses a significant challenge to extinguishing the fire, requiring a phased suppression strategy. As of Monday morning, the firefighting effort was still focused on containing the blaze to prevent it from spreading to surrounding areas. Several parts of the factory building have collapsed due to the intensity of the fire. No casualties have been reported so far, and a full assessment of material losses is still pending. The BPBD has urged the public to stay away from the area to ensure unimpeded access for emergency vehicles and personnel.
