Fire at Tangerang Sandal Factory Extinguished After Nearly 21 Hours
The fire at the PT Murni Karetindo Lestari (King Stone) flip-flop factory in Cipondoh, Tangerang City, has finally been extinguished. The firefighting operation lasted approximately 21 hours from the time the incident was reported. “The scene is now clear, the fire was fully extinguished at 19.30 WIB,” said Andia S Rahman, Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Tangerang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), when contacted on Monday (22/6/2026). The area of the building affected by the fire was approximately 1,000 square metres. Hundreds of personnel and 19 fire engines were deployed to tackle the blaze. The estimated losses from the fire are not yet known. Andia stated that his team is still collecting data. The personnel deployed included 50 Tangerang City Fire Department personnel, 6 Military Sub-district Command personnel, 6 Health Department personnel, 30 Tangerang City volunteers, and 40 personnel from the Parks Department tanker unit. The units deployed were 19 Tangerang City Fire Department engines, 1 Tangerang Military Sub-district Command 01 unit, 1 Health Department ambulance, and 10 Parks Department tankers. Andia previously explained the reason for the lengthy firefighting process. He revealed that the raw materials in the sandal factory required extra time and different handling methods. “At 16.24 WIB, personnel were continuing to extinguish the fire. The rubber materials, both solid and liquid raw materials, meant the firefighting process required more effort and different handling,” Andia said earlier. The large fire broke out at a sandal factory on Jalan Melati Raya, Tanah Tinggi, on Sunday (21/6) evening. The firefighting operation began at 22.45 WIB.
