Fire at Sandal Factory in Tangerang Still Not Extinguished After 18 Hours
A fire at the PT Murni Karetindo Lestari (King Stone) flip-flop factory in Cipondoh, Tangerang City, has still not been extinguished. Officers are continuing efforts to put out the flames at the location. “Not yet, still extinguishing,” said Andia S Rahman, Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Tangerang City BPBD, at 16.13 WIB on Monday (22/6/2026). Andia also shared images of the ongoing extinguishing process, with smoke still visible in several areas. “The latest conditions at 16.23 WIB, Tangerang City Fire Department officers are still in the process of extinguishing the fire, and sources of fire are still visible in several points and are being handled,” he said. He also revealed that one of the reasons the fire has not yet been extinguished is the raw materials inside the sandal factory. He stated that handling this factory fire requires extra time and a different approach. “At 16.24 WIB, personnel continue extinguishing efforts. The rubber materials, both solid and liquid raw materials, mean the extinguishing process requires more extra effort and different handling,” he explained. The large fire broke out at a sandal factory on Jalan Melati Raya, Tanah Tinggi, on Sunday (21/6) evening. The extinguishing process has been underway since 22.45 WIB.
