Fire at Police Officers' Residences in Riau: Motorcycles and Luxury Cars Destroyed
A fire occurred at two police officers’ residences in the police barracks on Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Pekanbaru, Riau. The incident also destroyed a large motorcycle, a Toyota Hilux double cabin, and an electric car at the scene. However, several other luxury cars were saved. The luxury cars that were saved include a Fortuner and a Pajero Sport. Fortunately, there were no casualties from the incident, as the residences were empty at the time. “Two police residences were burned. There were two residences affected in total, and the source of the fire was from the residence on the right or from one of the rooms,” said Pekanbaru Police Chief, Commissioner Muharman, at the scene on Wednesday (25/2/2026). Muharman confirmed that the owner of the first residence that caught fire was on leave to perform Umrah with his family. The second residence, belonging to a police officer with the rank of Commissioner, was also empty. “The first owner is currently on leave to perform Umrah, and the second owner is on duty in Jakarta. The family will later inventory the items that were burned and assess the material losses,” said the Police Chief. Currently, a joint team from the Pekanbaru Fire Department, Brimob, and the Pekanbaru Police are carrying out cooling operations. Meanwhile, the family is inventorying the burned items after police tape was installed.
