A building in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2 area, Tangerang Regency, Banten, was engulfed by fire. Three foreign nationals from China were evacuated from the scene.

Commander of the Kosambi Fire Station, Husni, stated on Monday (3/8/2026) that the three victims were rescued by the building owner using oxygen equipment. All three Chinese nationals survived.

The victims had been trapped inside the building as they were unable to exit due to the rooms filling with smoke. They were subsequently taken to a health facility for medical treatment. Husni explained that the individuals likely fled to the upper floors seeking safety and had to be evacuated using a ladder and portable oxygen units.

Firefighters received the emergency call at 13.06 Western Indonesian Time. Six fire engines and dozens of personnel were deployed to the scene. The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) and the Indonesian National Police’s Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Inafis) unit were also present to assist.

Officers are still working to extract thick smoke from the building. Husni noted that the interior remains dark and filled with dense smoke, preventing firefighters from entering until blowers can clear the air. While smoke is no longer visible from the outside, the fire service has not yet been able to access the interior.

The four-storey building, reportedly named Space One PIK 2, was still under construction. Firefighters remain at the scene to ensure there are no remaining flames, and the chronology and cause of the fire are still unknown.
