Fire at Ministry of Home Affairs Building in South Jakarta, 2 Employees Injured
Two employees sustained minor injuries in a fire that struck Building D of the Directorate General for Village Governance Development at the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) on Jalan Raya Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.
“Two employees suffered minor leg abrasions,” stated the Head of the Fire and Rescue Prevention Unit (Gulkarmat) for South Jakarta, Asril Rizal, in his remarks on Monday (20/4).
Asril explained that the fire was first spotted by an employee. At the time, the witness saw flames already burning on the outside of the building.
“Seeing the fire on the side outside the building (discarded items such as desks, chairs, computers) already growing large, then other employees called 112 and it was forwarded,” Asril said.
Asril noted that the fire affected the server room located in the building’s polyclinic. A total of 19 fire engine units and 75 personnel were deployed to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Asril added that the extinguishing process began around 1:47 PM WIB. The fire was then localised at 2:35 PM WIB, and cooling operations started from 3:00 PM WIB.
“Yellow status (cooling process),” Asril said.
Previously, the fire occurred at Building D of the Directorate General for Village Governance Development at the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) on Jalan Raya Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.
