Fire at Logistics Barracks Near PIK Hospital Extinguished, Suspected Electrical Short Circuit
A fire at a barracks containing project logistics near PIK Hospital on Jalan Pantai Indah Utara 3, North Jakarta, has been successfully extinguished. The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
“The situation was extinguished at 15.32 WIB. The suspected cause is an electrical short circuit,” said an officer from the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service Command Center on Saturday (29/8/2026).
The officer explained that the fire was discovered while employees were resting in the project area. They saw an office room made from shipping containers on fire.
“The fire was very large and spread to the logistics warehouse container, which contained electrical equipment,” he explained.
Firefighters then carried out extinguishing efforts with the assistance of security personnel and PIK Hospital employees. The fire was successfully extinguished so that it did not spread further.
“The fire was localised, and the fence area of PIK Hospital was slightly affected because it became an access point for officers during the extinguishing process,” he said.
There were no casualties in the fire. However, losses from the incident are estimated to reach Rp 200 million.
Information about the fire was received by officers at around 14.00 WIB. A total of 7 fire engines were deployed to the location with 42 personnel.
