Fire at Illegal Landfill in Waringinkurung, Serang, Remains Unextinguished

A fire has been ravaging an illegal landfill in Waringinkurung, Serang Regency, Banten, since Friday (28/08/2026). As of Sunday (30/08), Serang Regency fire brigade officers are still conducting firefighting efforts because the fire points are located beneath the waste mounds, making them difficult to reach.

Officers have deployed four fire engines and one excavator to break up the waste piles and create access to the fire hotspots. Although the large flames have subsided, smoke can still be seen emanating from several parts of the landfill. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
