A fire struck a shop house in Pasar Ciputat, South Tangerang City, Banten. The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit from one of the cake shops.

The South Tangerang City Fire and Rescue Department received the report on Wednesday (27/7/2025) at 19:20 WIB. The building object that caught fire was a shop kiosk, which also impacted a gold shop kiosk.

The fire department stated that the extinguishing process was completed at 20:45 WIB. A total of 7 fire engines were deployed.

“The units deployed were seven units plus one unit of equipment, with a total of 30 personnel,” wrote the South Tangerang City Fire Department in its statement.

Meanwhile, East Ciputat Police Chief Commissioner Bambang Askar Sodiq said there were no fatalities in the incident. The cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical short circuit in the cake shop.

“There were zero casualties. The fire originated from the cake shop. The initial suspicion is an electrical short circuit from the cake shop,” he said.

It was previously reported, based on circulating videos, that large flames were seen burning the contents of the shop house building. A number of fire engines had arrived at the location to begin the handling process, while several residents appeared to be watching the incident from the flyover.
