Fire at Cilincing Warehouse Extinguished After 8 Hours
The North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Sub-Agency (Sudin Gulkarmat) required more than eight hours to extinguish a fire that razed two warehouse buildings on Jalan Komplek Kawasan No. F17, Rorotan Village, Cilincing Sub-district, North Jakarta.
Head of Operations at Sudin Gulkarmat North Jakarta and Thousand Islands, Gatot Sulaeman, explained that firefighting operations began on Friday night and were only fully completed in the early hours of Saturday (25 July).
“We began firefighting operations at 7.03pm and the flames were only completely extinguished at around 3.37am,” said Gatot in Jakarta on Saturday.
Gatot detailed that although the main fire had been brought under control by 8.02pm, officers needed a considerable amount of time for the cooling process to ensure no remaining hot spots at the scene.
“We could only confirm the fire was out after a lengthy cooling period that lasted until Saturday morning,” he added.
The affected properties were two warehouse buildings owned by Hendrik Saputra. The first warehouse was operated by PT Inova Nusantara and contained water pump machines, whilst the second belonged to PT Sahabat and was used to store generator sets.
According to officers’ data, the total area affected by the fire reached 250 square metres. To tame the blaze, Sudin Gulkarmat deployed at least 85 personnel supported by 17 fire engines.
“Thank God, this morning the fire has been extinguished and the situation is now under control by our officers,” Gatot concluded.
