Fire at BPK Member Haerul Saleh's Home Occurs in Fourth-Floor Study

A fire that led to the death of BPK member Haerul Saleh occurred on the fourth floor of the victim’s home in Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. The fire first emerged in the victim’s study on the fourth floor.

“The information is that the fire was on the fourth floor,” said the Head of Public Relations for South Jakarta Police Resort, AKP Joko Adi, in Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Friday (8/4/2026).

Joko stated that Haerul Saleh was on the fourth floor at the time of the incident. Haerul Saleh’s body was found dead during the fire in his study.

“The fourth floor is the victim’s study according to the information,” he explained.

After the incident, Haerul Saleh’s body was taken to the nearest hospital. Joko said Haerul Saleh’s body was taken to Pasar Minggu Hospital.

“The victim… after the incident earlier, the victim was rushed to the nearest hospital. Yes (Pasar Minggu Hospital),” he emphasised.

BPK member Haerul Saleh is known to have died in the house fire incident in Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa. The fire was noticed by residents who saw smoke billowing from the roof of the house.

“Based on information from the local RT, thick black smoke was seen billowing from the third floor of the burning house,” said the Head of Fire and Rescue Prevention for South Jakarta, Asril Rizal, on Friday (8/5).

The fire was reported by residents at 07:53 WIB. The burning house is located in Tanjung Barat, South Jakarta.

The local RT head then requested assistance from firefighters to handle the fire. The fire is suspected to have originated from easily flammable chemical liquids.

“It is suspected that the fire came from remnants of used thinner from house renovations,” he said.
