Fire at Bogor SPPG Breaks Out During Gas Cylinder Replacement
Fire engulfed the Satuan Pemenuhan Pelayanan Gizi (SPPG) in Desa Pasir Eurih, Tamansari District, Bogor, West Java. Initially, the fire appeared when an employee attempted to replace a gas cylinder. ‘That was at first we were going to replace the cylinder (gas), when suddenly gas escaped as it was opened,’ said Tamansari Police Chief Iptu Azis Hidayat on Thursday (21/5/2026).
The incident occurred at around 13:30 WIB. When gas emerged as the cylinder was being replaced, the employee threw it. The police said the fire appeared outside the SPPG building, so the fire affected only materials such as ompreng snacks on the site. ‘When it was thrown, next to it there was an oven, and the blaze jumped to it. Fortunately the cylinder was outside, so only ompreng got burned,’ he said.
SPPG staff quickly moved to extinguish the fire to prevent it from growing larger. The fire was later put out by the staff. ‘This was really just from the staff who (extinguished the fire); they immediately put it out,’ he added. Azis said there were no casualties in the incident because the fire originated outside the room, so no one inside was affected. ‘No casualties, thank God, because the oven and gas cylinder were outside,’ he concluded.
