Fire at Anggana Danamon

Fire at Anggana Danamon

JAKARTA (JP): A small fire gutted the 32nd floor of the semi-
developed Anggana Danamon building located on one of the city's
main thoroughfares Tuesday morning.

At least nine mobile fire units attended the scene but none of
their hoses were able to reach the fire in the skyscraper on
Jalan Jend. Sudirman.

A number of firemen then took portable extinguishers to the
last floor of the building that could be reached by lift and
extinguished the fire in only a few minutes.

The cause of the fire is still under police investigation but
South Jakarta Police Chief, Lt. Col. SY Wenas, who was at the
scene, blamed the construction workers. But he did not go into
details.

The still to be completed building has not yet had electricity
installed.

The cost of the blaze has yet to be announced. (bsr)
