Fire and Rescue Service Evacuates Sunken Vessel in Pulau Pari Waters

The North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) evacuated a sunken vessel that had sprung a leak in the waters off Pulau Pari, South Thousand Islands District, on Sunday afternoon. “We received information about the leaking boat at around 14:45 WIB and immediately deployed personnel to the location,” said Gulkarmat Operations Section Head Gatot Sulaeman in Jakarta on Sunday. He stated that the vessel which suffered the leak bore the hull name KM Bangkit Lagi and had three passengers. “The boat was skippered by Nana Suryana and it experienced a leak,” he said. According to witness accounts, the vessel ran aground and could no longer stay upright. As the tide began to rise, water entered through the drainage hole, causing the boat to list and lose its ability to stand straight. Officers deployed four personnel to drain the water, and the evacuation was completed by 15:35 WIB. “Alhamdulillah, this evacuation was carried out successfully and the vessel was able to be handled,” he said.
