Fire and Rescue Service Evacuates Boat with Engine Failure Near Tidung Island

The North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) evacuated a fishing boat that suffered an engine failure in the waters northwest of Tidung Island on Tuesday. The boat was carrying two female passengers who are employees of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. They had been travelling to Pulau Kelapa when the engine failed, causing the vessel to drift. Gulkarmat received a report from a member of the North Thousand Islands Police at 5:00 PM local time. A rescue team was deployed and arrived at the location at 5:25 PM. The evacuation was successfully completed by 6:36 PM, and both passengers were brought to safety.
