Jakarta (ANTARA) - Financial consultant and planner Elvi Diana has praised the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for its efforts in eradicating illegal online lending (pindar) practices.

OJK has recorded the blocking of 953 illegal pindar entities throughout the first quarter of 2026.

“This blocking of hundreds of illegal pindar entities demonstrates that OJK is not only performing its supervisory role but is also truly listening to and responding to public complaints,” said Elvi in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Based on OJK data, this blocking action is a follow-up to a total of 10,516 complaints regarding illegal entities received.

Of that number, 8,515 complaints relate to illegal pindar, 1,933 complaints concern illegal investments, and 68 complaints pertain to illegal pawn practices.

Elvi stated that the high number of complaints, particularly regarding illegal pindar, indicates the significant ongoing threat to public financial security.

Therefore, she encourages OJK to continue strengthening supervision and enforcement against pindar operators.

“Moving forward, supervision must be tightened further to narrow the space for illegal pindar. Ideally, these illegal practices can be suppressed to the point where they no longer harm the public. Additionally, OJK must anticipate whether owners of legal pindar are also owners of illegal pindar,” she added.

Furthermore, Elvi also urges the public to be more cautious in selecting digital financial services and to ensure the legality of service providers through OJK’s official channels.

Legal pindar platforms are encouraged to conduct education and literacy efforts for their debtors to ensure borrowed funds are used appropriately.

“OJK’s ongoing steps are expected to create a healthy, safe, and trustworthy digital financial ecosystem for all Indonesians,” she concluded.
