Finance Ministry's 9 Policies for 2027: Fuel Subsidy Stabilisation and Efficiency

Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has outlined nine strategic policies for managing the Indonesian economy in 2027. He stated these policies are designed to mitigate significant global economic risks, including geopolitical conflicts, trade wars, commodity price and financial market volatility, as well as the need to support food security, human resources, and energy programmes. “These various policies are pursued to protect purchasing power, maintain stability, and preserve economic growth momentum,” Purbaya said during a working meeting with Commission XI of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday (15/6/2026). The nine strategic policies consist of stabilising subsidised fuel, stabilising food prices, ensuring energy and food security, maintaining fiscal discipline with a deficit below 3% of GDP, improving spending efficiency, optimising natural resource revenue, providing a stimulus package to protect purchasing power and the business sector, improving budget absorption patterns, and enhancing synergy and collaboration between fiscal and monetary policy. “This forms a solid foundation to navigate the dynamics of 2027,” Purbaya stressed. In addition to these nine strategic policies, Purbaya noted that the Ministry of Finance has also prepared five programmes to support the National Priority Work Programme of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, alongside its strategic activities. The five programmes cover fiscal, financial sector and economic policy; state revenue management; state expenditure management; treasury, state assets and risk management; and management support. “To execute all these programmes, we are proposing an indicative budget ceiling for the Ministry of Finance in 2027 of Rp 49.8 trillion,” Purbaya affirmed.
