Jakarta — The Directorate General of Taxes at the Finance Ministry stated that as of 10 March 2026 at 24:00 WIB, it had received 7,205,109 annual Personal Income Tax Return (SPT) filings for the 2025 tax year.

The Director General, Bimo Wijayanto, expressed confidence that the ministry would achieve its target of 8.5 million annual SPT filings by the end of March 2026, noting that current submission rates are nearly matching those from the previous year.

“We have already received 98.6 per cent of SPTs compared to last year’s submissions. So, praise be to God, taxpayers are increasingly understanding their obligation to file through the Cortex system,” Bimo Wijayanto said during the Budget Press Conference KiTA Edition March 2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday.

To meet this target, the ministry is regularly sending reminder emails to taxpayers and offering additional support measures. These include a mobile service approach, weekend office hours on Saturdays and Sundays, expanded guidance through the Tax Volunteers for the Nation (Renjani) programme, and strengthened taxpayer education initiatives.

Given that annual SPT filing realisations for the 2025 tax year are nearly approaching the target, Bimo stated there is currently no urgency to impose late-filing penalties or provide extension relief.

“We will continue to evaluate the situation until approaching Lebaran to determine whether relaxation policies would indeed be necessary,” he said.
