Finance Ministry Oversees Optimisation of 'Sekolah Rakyat' Construction in Kaur

The Ministry of Finance, through the Directorate General of Treasury, is optimally overseeing the utilisation of the state budget for the construction of a Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School) in Kaur Regency, Bengkulu Province, with a total budget of Rp504.8 billion. This oversight aims to ensure that the state budget directly benefits the community through the operation of this strategic project located in Cucupam Village, Tetap District, Kaur Regency. “This school is designed to be a highly comprehensive integrated education centre. Currently, various main facilities such as the school building, student dormitories, teacher housing, a place of worship or mosque, and a kitchen have been erected,” said Mohamad Irfan Surya Wardhana, Head of the Bengkulu Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury, in Bengkulu City on Tuesday. He noted that based on field results, the physical construction progress of the people’s school has reached 93.69 per cent, exceeding the initial planned target. The government is targeting the school’s opening and operations for 14 July 2026, with 270 new students at the primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary school levels. Irfan further explained that through the people’s school programme, the government has empowered and absorbed up to 1,360 daily workers on site. “Through this joint and collaborative oversight, we hope the operations of the Sekolah Rakyat in Kaur Regency can run smoothly. The presence of this large-scale educational facility is tangible proof of the state’s presence, through state budget funds, in realising equitable quality education in the Bengkulu Province region,” Irfan stated. Previously, the Sentra Dharma Guna Bengkulu explained that there are five areas in Bengkulu Province ready to implement the people’s school programme in accordance with the directive of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The five areas are Central Bengkulu Regency, Kepahiang Regency, South Bengkulu Regency, North Bengkulu Regency, and Kaur Regency.
