Finance Ministry Has Not Yet Applied for Ownership of IDX
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has stated that the Ministry of Finance has not yet held discussions or submitted an application to own shares in PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX). However, he revealed that Danantara Indonesia has already applied for share ownership in the country’s capital market authority. “We have not yet submitted discussions to buy shares (in the IDX). But if I am not mistaken, Danantara has already applied to buy shares in the Bourse. But we have not yet,” Purbaya said during a press conference at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Wednesday. Purbaya’s statement was in response to regulatory changes in Law Number 4 of 2026 concerning Amendments to Law Number 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector, known as the P2SK Law. Previously, the Chief Executive of Capital Market, Derivative Finance, and Carbon Exchange Supervision at the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Hasan Fawzi, stated that the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, and Danantara Indonesia would be the first parties given the opportunity to own shares in the IDX. The OJK is currently drafting an OJK Regulation on Demutualisation, which will serve as the legal basis for changing the IDX’s institutional structure from a mutual system to a demutualised one. “If you read the provisions of Law No. 4 of 2026 (P2SK Law), there is state representation through Bank Indonesia, the Ministry of Finance, and Danantara. These will certainly be the first parties to have the opportunity to own shares in the bourse, followed by a private deal among them,” Hasan stated.
