The control of inflation during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period was also supported by the government’s efforts to maintain people’s purchasing power through various policies.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Finance stated that government policies helped maintain the inflation rate during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period in 2026.

Inflation was recorded at 3.48% year-on-year (yoy) in March 2026, down from 4.8% (yoy) in February.

“The control of inflation during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period was also supported by the government’s efforts to maintain people’s purchasing power through various policies,” said the Director General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy at the Ministry of Finance, Febrio Kacaribu, in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

These various policies included transport discount incentives, food assistance, and inflation control through market operations, price interventions, and distribution oversight.

One of them was air transport fares, which experienced deflation of 4.01% (month-to-month), with a deflation contribution to overall inflation of 0.03% and to the transportation group of 0.24%.

In addition to air transport, other transportation commodities that also experienced deflation were toll road tariffs, sea transport fares, ASDP, and train fares.

The deflation rates were recorded at 0.87%, 7.45%, 3.17%, and 3.18% respectively.

Meanwhile, various food inflation control policies supported the moderation of volatile food inflation to 4.2% (yoy) amid extreme weather challenges.

Nevertheless, demand for commodities such as eggs, chicken meat, fresh fish, and beef increased in line with the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr moments. The decline in gold prices also drove the core inflation down from 2.6% (yoy) to 2.5% (yoy).

The government continues to monitor global geopolitical developments and strengthen mitigation measures together with relevant ministries and agencies to maintain national economic stability.
