Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - Head of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) Regional Office for East Java I, Max Darmawan, stated that the state budget (APBN) realisation for food security in East Java has reached Rp307.86 billion from this year’s ceiling of Rp2.8 trillion. “From the available funds or allocation of Rp2.87 trillion, Rp307 billion has been realised, growing 51.17 percent year-on-year (yoy),” he said during a Media Briefing in Surabaya on Monday. Max said the realisation up to May 2026, which reached Rp307.86 billion, grew 51.17 percent (yoy) and reversed the previous year’s sharp contraction trend of 61.59 percent. He noted that the acceleration was driven by an increased ceiling to Rp2.87 trillion, a significant rise from Rp878.71 billion in 2025, reflecting the strengthening of the government’s commitment to national food security. He stated that East Java is the country’s largest rice producer, with production of 7.71 million tonnes of milled dry grain (GKG). He revealed several outputs from this year’s food security budget utilisation, including the construction of 1,143 kilometres of water resource network infrastructure and the development of two dams. Further outputs include the facilitation of fertiliser and pesticides for 985,568 farmers, agricultural and fisheries training for 1,260 people, and assistance with 7,571 seaweed cultivation seedlings. Additionally, the budget supports increasing livestock production by 2,400 head, developing 5,050 hectares of various palm areas, and developing 56,050 hectares of seasonal crop areas. Lastly, it provides for 5,500,000 brackish water fish fry and 30 units of brackish water fish farming equipment.
