Finance Ministry Confirms Information on State Budget Lasting Only 3 Months is a Hoax!
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Information regarding the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) that would only last for three months has been circulating on social media. In addition, the rupiah exchange rate is reported to potentially reach Rp20,000/US$. Through the official X account of the Ministry of Finance’s Public Information Disclosure Unit (@PPIDKemenkeu), it stated that the information is untrue or a hoax. “The news circulating about Indonesia’s APBN only lasting for 3 months and the rupiah potentially reaching Rp20,000 per US dollar is hoax news,” wrote @PPIDKemenkeu, quoted on Thursday (23/4/2026). The Ministry of Finance’s Public Information Disclosure Unit also reminded the public to be cautious of news that impersonates Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. “The public is urged to be wary of the spread of false news that impersonates Finance Minister Purbaya,” it stated. This is not the first time Purbaya has been embroiled in hoaxes. Previously, in a deepfake video, Finance Minister Purbaya was claimed to be distributing grant funds of Rp11 billion ready to be disbursed to the public through the 2026 Grant Funds Programme. Additionally, there was a post on Facebook social media claiming that Finance Minister Purbaya offered quick-disbursing loans without collateral and already registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
