Finance Ministers and ASEAN Central Bank Governors Strengthen Financial Cooperation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Finance Minister and ASEAN Central Bank Governors are committed to working more closely on sustainable finance, disaster risk financing, regulatory and supervisory alignment, and digital financial innovation.
According to an official statement from ASEAN 2026 received in Jakarta on Monday (20/4), the ASEAN finance ministers and central bank governors reaffirmed the region’s economic resilience amid increasing global uncertainties.
“As geopolitical tensions rise, unity becomes more important than ever. Our collective resolve sends a strong signal to the world that we remain resilient in the face of challenges,” said Philippine Finance Department Secretary Frederick D. Go.
The ministers and central bank governors underscored vigilance against risks in facing capital flows, climate-related shocks, and geo-economic fragmentation.
They also agreed on key outcomes to further deepen capital markets, expand regional payment connectivity, and promote financial health.
The ministers and governors adopted the ASEAN Finance Sector Plan 2026-2030, which prioritises deepening capital markets, payment connectivity, and financial health.
The agreement also includes the finalisation of technical screening criteria for the ASEAN Taxonomy and the launch of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) Action Plan 2026-2028.
The finance ministers and central bank governors also encouraged stronger private sector participation in infrastructure financing, digital innovation, sustainable finance, and capacity-building initiatives.
The ASEAN member countries’ finance ministers and central bank governors held the 13th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (13th AFMGM) in Manila, Philippines, on 10 April 2026.
In the meeting, they also welcomed the Asian Development Bank (ADB) proposal to establish a special facility for ASEAN worth US$30 billion (Rp512.6 trillion) for 2026-2030.
The facility is aimed at supporting the implementation of the ASEAN Finance Sector Plan 2026-2030 and the ASEAN Community Vision (ACV) 2045 for a “Resilient, Innovative, Dynamic, and People-Centred ASEAN”.
