Finance Minister to Meet Industry Minister Over Electric Motorcycle Incentive Rules

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has promised to approach Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang regarding the regulation for the Rp5 million electric motorcycle incentive. Purbaya admitted he has not yet spoken with the Industry Minister about the fiscal rules for this incentive.

“He hasn’t spoken to me yet. I’ll go and see him tomorrow,” Purbaya said when met at the DPR on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

Purbaya pledged that the electric motorcycle incentive programme should be able to commence in September 2026. He also confirmed that the Finance Ministry Regulation (PMK) would be issued swiftly.

“The PMK on electric motorcycle subsidies will be issued quickly,” he stressed.

Previously, Agus Gumiwang revealed that his ministry, which handles the technical aspects on the ground, is ready to run the programme once the regulation from the Finance Ministry is issued.

“We are waiting for the PMK. Waiting for the PMK,” Agus said at the Presidential Palace complex, as quoted from CNN Indonesia, Jakarta, Monday (17/8).

Agus was unable to confirm the implementation schedule for the programme at that time, as it depends heavily on the issuance of the regulation.

“We are ready. The Ministry of Industry, as the technical ministry, is ready. We are just waiting for the PMK. Once the PMK is completed, we will adjust accordingly,” he said.
