Finance Minister Suahasil Reaffirms Commitment to Safeguarding State Finances
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara has reaffirmed her commitment to safeguarding state finances, specifically the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).
She ensured that the APBN will continue to be managed as an instrument capable of driving growth while simultaneously maintaining Indonesia’s economic stability.
During a press conference at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Monday, Suahasil explained that she has received a mandate from President Prabowo Subianto to continue her duties as Finance Minister until the end of the Red and White Cabinet’s 2024-2029 term.
“The task assigned is to safeguard state finances, ensuring our state finances will continue to be an APBN that fosters growth, an APBN that stabilises our economy, and provides maximum benefit to the Indonesian people as a whole,” said Suahasil.
Minister Suahasil explained that the benefits of the APBN for the public and the economy are realised through various economic activities, including public consumption, investment, government spending, and export activities.
With sound management of state finances, the APBN is expected to continue providing optimal benefits for the Indonesian people.
Minister Suahability also called upon all ranks within the Ministry of Finance to continue performing their respective duties and to work together to maintain the institution’s credibility.
“We shall continue our respective work and create a Ministry of Finance that is credible, trustworthy, and a source of pride for all Indonesian people,” she stated.
Suahasil began leading the Ministry of Finance this afternoon, continuing the execution of the Ministry’s duties and responsibilities in managing state finances to support the economy and provide the greatest possible benefit to the public.
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Suahasil Nazara as Finance Minister, replacing Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, in a ceremony at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday.
Suahasil was appointed as the new Finance Minister as stipulated in Presidential Decree Number 97P of 2026 regarding the Dismissal and Appointment of Finance Ministers of the Red and White Cabinet for the Remaining Term of 2024–2029, which was established on 14 September 2026 by President Prabowo Subianto.
Suahasil is the third Finance Minister in President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. The previous Finance Minister, Purbaya, was inaugurated on 8 September 2025 to replace Sri Mulyani.
Suahasil began serving as Deputy Finance Minister on 25 October 2019 in the Indonesia Maju Cabinet under President Joko Widodo. She was subsequently reappointed to the same position for the Red and White Cabinet under President Prabowo Subianto for the 2024-2029 period on 21 October 2024.
