Finance Minister Suahasil Ensures State Budget Deficit to Remain Below 3 Per Cent and Continues Efficiency

Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara has expressed her commitment to maintaining the health and credibility of the state finances while ensuring that the State Budget (APBN) is capable of supporting the government’s priority programmes. Consequently, she has pledged to keep the state budget deficit below 3 per cent.

“A specific directive from the President is to safeguard the state finances, which means maintaining their health and preserving the credibility of the state’s financial position,” Suahasil stated in her remarks following her inauguration by the President of the Republic of Indonesia for the remainder of the 2024-2029 term at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, on Monday (14/09/2026).

According to her, the state budget, as a component of state finances, must be able to execute the government’s priority programmes. “Therefore, the state budget must be healthy. In addition to being healthy, it must also be credible; the state budget must be trustworthy,” said Suahasil, who succeeds Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
